Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Supervisor: Generation Alive Board of Directors

Description: Are you looking for exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and thriving organization with an equally dynamic culture? Generation Alive (www.generationalive.org) is looking for a dynamic, passionate executive leader with vision and experience to continue its strategic national expansion (currently Spokane, WA and San Francisco Bay Area). The CEO works with the board and staff to propel Generation Alive forward in the development and implementation of goals that reflect the organization's vision, mission and strategic plan. The CEO provides overall strategic leadership, leads fund development efforts, organizational development, and provides financial oversight.

Generation Alive was founded by former SF Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt, on the principle that if youth are given the platform and opportunity to make a difference within their community, they will. We are dedicated to empowering young people to compassionately engage the needs in their community through action and service.

Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • Develop and sustain a diverse funding base, with an emphasis on individual and corporate giving.
  • Lead strategic efforts to identify and cultivate prospective donors and effectively steward existing donors.
  • Oversee grant strategy and assist grant writer, as needed.
  • Assist in fundraising event strategy and implementation.

Management

  • Manage, inspire, motivate and empower a strong team.
  • Manage SF Bay Area Regional Director and organizational activities in two distinctly different markets.
  • Develop and implement appropriate human resource policies and procedures, maintain non-profit compliance and performance management for team.
  • Encourage continual staff development and education.
  • Communicate regularly with the Board Chair and serve as liaison between board and team.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection and orientation of new board and committee members.
  • Assist the Board Chair in planning the agenda and materials for Board meetings and planning retreats, preparing and providing materials for monthly Board Meetings.

Finance

  • Oversight of QuickBooks financial database.
  • Develop annual operating budget.
  • Oversee organizational operating budget, ensuring that activities are within budget and aligned with Generation Alive’s mission and strategic goals.

Public Relations and Communications

  • Serve as primary spokesperson for Generation Alive, increasing awareness for the organization and its programs.
  • Oversee all internal and external communications, including fundraising materials, newsletters, donor letters, event programs, brochures, flyers and press releases.
  • Assist in the development of organizational communication plan.

Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to supporting Generation Alive’s Christian values and Code of Ethics; willingness to work in a setting that demonstrates these on a daily basis.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years demonstrated management experience, including staff development and fund development; non-profit management experience preferred.
  • 5+ years fundraising experience, demonstrated success in securing major support from private and/ or public sectors.
  • Evidence of clear administrative skills, leadership and ability to work quickly with others.
  • Desire to work as a member of a team, develop thriving working relationships with board members, team members, volunteers, donors, general public.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision; solve problems independently, effectively, creatively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to represent Generation Alive in both secular and religious arenas.
  • Highly motivated by and committed to the mission of Generation Alive.
  • High level understanding of youth culture, or, young people and their development, preferred.
  • High level of energy, integrity, entrepreneurialism and a sense of humor.
