Food Packing FAQs


1) What is food insecurity?

Food insecurity is not knowing where your next meal will come from.

2) What is in a meal?

Generation Alive provides supplies to pack a cheesy rice and vegetable meal: a delicious and nutritious meal consisting of rice, soy flour, dehydrated vegetables, vitamins and cheese powder.

3) How much does each box contain?

Each box contains 216 meals worth of food.

4) Where do these meals go?

All meals packed with Generation Alive are taken to Second Harvest Food Bank where they are distributed to people in need throughout the community.

5) Are there any restrictions for food packings?

Yes, due to Covid-19, the maximum number of participants is 20. We also require children to be at least 8 years old to handle raw food. Any children younger than that are welcome to come and help put labels on bags!

6) Can I pack more than one box?

Yes! You are welcome to sign up for as many boxes as you would like, but if you would like to do more than three, it will take more than the typical one hour session. Each additional box is another $60.

7) How do I pay?

You can pay via cash or check on the day of the packing, or you can prepay by texting FOODPACKING to

509-204-8833 and selecting the number of boxes you would like to pack.

FAQ (Businesses and organizations):

1) Can my business host a food packing at our facility?

Yes! Our food packings are designed to be set up anywhere. If you have less than 10 people, we are able to host at our office as well.
